This Blog Post Will Make You Want To Spend More Time In Your Garden

Share Post:

I’m sure that most of us aren’t spending quite as much time in our gardens as we would like to. That’s largely because it’s so easy to neglect the garden and let it end up a bit messy and jungle-like. Once it starts to look untidy and unkempt, the motivation to want to go and sit out in it can quickly disappear. So, if you do want to start to use your garden more often, you might just need to smarten it up a bit. These tips can help you do that.

Add A Dining Area

Why not add a dining area so that you can start to enjoy some al fresco meals? Don’t worry, this isn’t such a huge job and you will be able to sort it out without too much hard work. If you already have a patio in your garden, you just need to add some garden furniture. If your garden is mainly lawned, you can easily turn a corner into a patio by laying down some tiles or slabs. It’s best to put your garden furniture on a solid ground, such as a patio, so that it doesn’t sink into the grass.

Tend To Your Borders

The borders around a garden are often some of the first areas that can start to look messy. So, if you are going to tend to any part of your garden, make sure it’s those. Even if you just pull out all the weeds and sharpen the edge of your lawn, it will make a big difference. It’s also worth smartening up your boundaries by adding fence post caps or trimming your hedge. If you have flower beds lining the edge of your garden, you should also make sure that they are completely filled and you can’t see any soil. Visible soil will make them look a bit empty.

Clean Your Plant Pots

When was the last time you cleaned the outside of any of your plant pots? I’m guessing that you haven’t done it for a while. In fact, you might have never done it! Well, it’s really worth getting a cloth and some warm soapy water and wiping these pots down as it will help brighten them up. You might be amazed at what a difference that makes to your outdoor area!

Be Ruthless With Your Plants

It’s really important that you are ruthless with your plants and remove any from your garden that don’t add anything to it. If some plants start to look tired then it’s worth digging them up and composting them. Otherwise, they will only spoil the rest of your garden.

Hire A Gardener

Of course, if you don’t have much time to sort out your garden, you could always hire a gardener to do it for you. They can use their expert knowledge and experience to create a wonderful outside area for you that really complements your home.

Once you put these tips into practice, you might want to spend your whole time in the garden!
