It’s Finally Starting to feel like summer, with the kiddies out of school the traffic lightening up and the weather heating up there is no doubt we will be outdoors more often.

One of the most important things is to care about your skin this summer.

Too much sun is bad for your skin because it contains a pigment called melanin and too much exposure to the sun causes more melanin to be produced. This is why a prolonged stay under the direct sun can cause skin damage or even cancer in some severe cases.  This is also why sunscreens are recommended irrespective of your skin type.

Here is some useful advice you should take for summer skincare:

  1. Use Sunscreen

Sunscreen is paramount for summer skin care. Even if your primary goal is to get a glowing, golden tan, you still need to use sunscreen.

  1. Face Care in the Summer

Make it your goal to find skin care products which contain natural ingredients to protect your skin from sun damage and that has at least SPF 30 without clogging your pores. If sunscreen is thick and oily, it can easily lead to blemishes; start using a natural daily face cleanser so you can keep your skin healthy, free of any dirt or debris. Summer skin care will be a breeze with the right tools in your arsenal.

  1. Find your tanning time.

Your skin reaches a tanning cut-off point when it physically can’t produce any more melanin, the tanning pigment, so it’s pointless to lounge by the pool all day. Stop tanning after 2-3 hours, or much sooner if you have fair skin.

  1. Moisturize

Make sure to use a generous amount of moisturizer. Look for lotions that contain Aloe Vera and vitamin E that will provide additional nourishment to your skin. Keeping you and your skin hydrated is a must for summer skin care.

5. Find an Alternative like Sunless Tanner

A great alternative to achieve a nice tan would be a sunless tanner, not only is it safer it is also effective and lasts a couple of weeks. I recommend Vogenix as my go-to sunless tanner and this product is even great to keep a tan during the winter time too!

And remember your skin needs you to relax and have fun this summer!
