What To Pack For Traveling and Blogging

Share Post:

Creating content as you travel is one of the most enjoyable and exciting things about being a full-time blogger or entrepreneur.

The first few trips you take, you might take a little bit too much. Lifting heavy bags through the airport or over-stuffing the trunk of the car is no fun.

Over time, you become very good at packing chic outfits, the exact amount of equipment you need to capture content and make notes – with a little bit of room for shopping too.

All you need is a few items of tech, some capsule items to create multiple looks, and some toiletries.

So let’s talk about it – how can you maximize the content and the enjoyment of your next travel experience.

Let’s assume that you are on a short break, perhaps three to five days in total.

Clothing

Clothing takes up more room in your case than your electrics will, so you have to be the most mindful of those.

Assume that you are packing lightly, rather than a large suitcase too!

  • Three t-shirts
  • One long-sleeved sweater
  • Sneakers
  • Your favorite and most comfortable jeans
  • Sleepwear
  • Enough underwear for the whole trip
  • Bathing suit if you are hoping to get some sea content
  • Socks
  • Sandals or boots based on the location and the weather
  • One dress
  • One hat
  • One pair sunglasses
  • One sarong or large lightweight scarf – these can be used to wrap shoulders, protect hair and head, or offer some modesty when required
  • One extra bag like a tote

Opt to pack everything that has a reasonably neutral tone to it so that you can mix and match anything at any time.

Personal care items

If you are on a press trip, you might get gifted a range of toiletries to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Just in case, though, it is a good idea to pack your own.

Your own kit of toiletries is perfect for those times in between hotels or traveling. So you can floss after a meal at the airport if you need to.

  • Foldable toothbrush
  • Travel-sized toothpaste
  • Travel-size shampoo
  • Travel-size conditioner
  • Hair ties
  • Deodorant
  • 2 x small hand towels

You never know when having your hand towel will come in handy. They are small and easy to pack but have so many uses.

Content Creation Gear

In your case, the bulk of the room will likely be taken up by clothing, but you need to make sure that you have enough for multiple photo sessions.

If you are working with any brands, it is good to add a few of those items to the case to impress them with even more exciting content.

  • Laptop
  • Camera
  • Cables
  • Power adapters
  • Universal power adapter
  • Lenses for camera
  • Portable power bank
  • Tripod

If you are using your iPhone camera to shoot most of the content, then make sure before you leave you know how to transfer photos from iPhone to pc – this can vary by the make and model of phone and laptop you have.

Put all of the wires into a Ziploc bag; this will stop them from getting tangled – and also makes it easier to remove them from the bag at the airport for security checks.

If you are traveling with many high-priced electrical items, it is essential to consider using a padlock or a combination lock for your bag.

When you are taking a tripod with you, make sure that it fits safely inside your bag. Foldable tripods are the perfect partner for traveling and creating content. Opt for one that has high reviews and is of high quality.

Bag Size

We ten to fill up the space available – and make much more intelligent decisions if we are limited with our options. Choosing a smaller bag might feel a little too much pressure, but it will stop you from trying to pack extra shoes and boots when you don’t really need them.

Depending on where you are traveling, you might also consider taking a fanny pack with you or a smaller bag that sits on your front. Tourists are often targets for thieves, so anything that is essential, consider leaving in the hotel (preferably a safe) or put in the front dancing bag so that you can see it at all times.

The opportunity to travel and create content is incredible, and of course, you learn more as you go. But the first step – packing the right amount – is one of the most important. Over time you will refine your packing skills too.
