3 Barriers To Healthy Eating That Are Easily Broken

We all want to be healthy, but all of that dieting and exercise isn’t as easy as it looks. There are people out there that find it easy to eat clean and workout all the time, but for the rest of us, it’s a real struggle. You start with the best intentions and it goes great for the first week or two, but then you start falling into bad habits again. Sometimes, you might even think that you’re sticking to it religiously but you don’t seem to be seeing any of the effects. You’ve got 2 options here; you could always just give up on trying to be healthier or you could try to work out why your healthy eating regime isn’t working and do something about it. These are the things that could be tripping you up.


You Haven’t Given It Time


Your body gets used to the food that you eat over time. When you start a diet and change your eating habits, you need to give your body time to catch up. It can take a few weeks for your body to get used to your new diet. A big mistake that people often make is quitting while they’re still going through this process. You need to learn to manage your cravings and not worry about feeling a little hungry to start with. The reason that you’re feeling hungry even though you’ve eaten is that your body is getting different amounts of certain food groups. For example, if you’re swapping out a load of high carb foods for more nutritious vegetables, your body will still crave those carbs for a bit before it adjusts and you start to feel full after eating. Give your body time to adjust to the new diet before you give up on it and you’ll see far better results.




A lot of people have good diets and exercise quite regularly, yet they still don’t lose weight. Often, it’s all down to one thing; alcohol. People know that alcohol isn’t good if you’re trying to stay healthy but they don’t realize just how bad it is. But why exactly does alcohol cause weight gain? The calories in the alcohol itself are one thing to consider, but people don’t always think about the effects of alcohol. Most people tend to get hungry when they’ve been drinking and you’re far less likely to make sensible decisions about what you eat so if you’re drinking regularly, you’re not going to stick to your healthy eating routine very well.




When you feel hungry, you eat. But if you’re feeling hungry all of the time then you’re going to start overeating. However, the hunger pains that you think you’re feeling might not be hunger at all. You feel the same sensation when you’re thirsty and dehydrated. Before you go for the fridge, try having a glass of water instead. Sometimes, the craving will go away and you won’t end up eating unnecessarily.


If you can break down these barriers, you’ll find it a lot easier to stick to your healthy eating routine.
