Improve Your Health by Changing Bad Habits

Share Post:

How often have you found yourself standing at the fridge door when you are not really hungry?  Do you ever pick the food that you know is the worst for you but you find it too tempting? Don’t feel bad if you are saying yes as we all do things like this sometimes. The problem is when it turns into a habit you are doing all the time, and things such as smoking, biting your nails, tapping your feet and so many other things are habits that can be very difficult to break. Some habits will not do you any harm, but there are others that can affect your health, and those are the ones you need to get rid off.

Identify The Habits You Want Top Break

The first thing to do is be honest with yourself. Look at your life and make a note of all the habits you have. Then mark the ones that you know are bad for you, as they are the ones you should attack first.

It is not always good to try and stop them all at once, as that can be too much for anyone to cope with. Pick one and hit that first. Over the next few weeks, if you feel you have been successful it will motivate you to move onto the next bad habit until you have broken them all.

Never Be Afraid to Ask For Help

There is no shame in admitting that you need help to break a habit and get healthy. Smoking, for instance, is notoriously hard to stop without any assistance. There are support groups, forums, aids that you chew, patches and vape machines in which you can out various flavors of vape juice and these are all meant to help you quit. Eventually, you won’t need them at all.

If you are trying to stop being a chocoholic, speak with the store where you buy most of it and ask them to refuse to sell chocolate to you. Make sure the rest of the family do not bring any into the house, and the temptation will be out of sight.

Find Healthy Habits To Replace The Bad Ones

You will find it easier to break the bad habits if you have something in place to replace them. For instance, every time you fancy some more chocolate, have some fruit instead or if you fancy a soda, have sparkling water with berries as an alternative. It will be more effective if it is one of the sweeter fruits such as strawberries, but becoming addicted to them is not a bad thing at all.

If you find yourself standing in front of the fridge, close the door and do some deep breathing exercises several times. Then ask yourself if you still feel hungry, or was it just your habit that made you stand there.

Think Of The Benefits

It is not hard to realize what the benefits will be from packing in smoking or stopping the binge eating. You will be healthier to start with, but also your wallet will be a lot fatter, you will be fitter and probably lose some weight too.
