So you’re at home and can’t figure out what to do, huh? Sometimes all we dream about is going home and doing nothing (especially after a long day of work), but then we get home and are instantly bored! How the heck does that happen?
There are many things you can do at home, so let us help you with this guide to six creative things to do when you’re bored at home!
Learn a New Language
Hop on the digital app Duolingo, and start picking up a language you’ve always wanted to learn. Spanish, German, French, Chinese: you can learn so many languages in one afternoon! The basics, anyway.
You might think, “Maybe another time,” but what better time to learn something than when you have nothing on your to-do list?
Find a New Podcast
If you’re a podcast enthusiast or you’re new to it, find a podcast to listen to. There’s a podcast for everything, from movie reviews to folklore stories.
Podcasts can be a great way to learn new things, discover fascinating facts, or be entertained while driving or doing something else!
Volunteer
Look for a local animal shelter, food pantry, theatre, and other organizations you can volunteer with. It’s a wonderful way to get more involved in your community and help others in your spare time.
Whether you pack food, assist with lighting, or play with adorable animals, you’ll feel more fulfilled and naturally happier overall.
Call a Friend
Call or text a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. It’s essential to nurture your friendships to keep them in your life. Ask them how they’ve been and what’s the sitch.
You might find yourself going out for a coffee date, which is an easy cure to boredom and get coffee. So it’s a win-win.
Start Writing
Do you have an idea that you want to expand? Perhaps you’ve been putting off writing your #1 hit because you’ve been waiting for “inspiration” to hit you. Grab a pen and paper (or laptop) and start writing whatever comes to mind.
You can write a poem, creative story, journal entry, to-do list, etc. You can even start a successful blog! Writing your ideas out helps you gain clarity and a sense of direction.
Get Crafty
When you’re bored at home, create or build something! If you have extra craft supplies around the house, try some craft project ideas using elastic to spark inspiration.
If you don’t have extra supplies, head out to the store and pick some up. Who knows, you might come home with a few Michaels bags. Adventure awaits!
Don’t sit around waiting to be entertained, do any of the above creative things to do when you’re bored at home! You’ll be glad you learned something new, volunteered, or had a debt-inducing shopping spree. Either way, your boredom is cured.
