Useful Tips for Improving the Quality of your Hair

Share Post:

Our hair is one of the easiest ways to really make a statement, but it is important to know how to care for it correctly. From understanding how to care for high hair porosity to key dietary considerations we will share some top tips for how to improve the quality of your hair.

Improve the quality and health of your hair with some dietary changes

Keep your hair fuller and healthier with the following tips to improving your diet:

  1. Increase your protein intake.
Obviously a varied diet is important, and protein is a key factor in the health of your hair and scalp as your hair is primarily made up of protein! A few top ways you can add extra protein to your diet include:
  • Poultry
  • Lean meats
  • Beans and pulses
  • Nuts
  • Eggs
  1. Don’t forget zinc!
Did you know that a zinc deficiency can actually cause your hair to shed? Include the following in your diet to ensure you have enough zinc to keep your hair healthy:
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Nuts (particularly Brazils, walnuts, and pecans)
  • Clean, filtered water
  • If you are sure you’re running low, add a zinc supplement to enhance your diet.
  1. Omega-3 fatty acids can help to stimulate your hair follicles.
Whilst there is no magical way to get your hair to grow quicker, improving your scalp health definitely helps. For good sources of omega-3 make sure you’re eating:
  • Flaxseed
  • Fish (particularly salmon, sardines and herring)
  • Cottage cheese
  • Cereal

Improve the quality and health of your hair with these top care tips

It’s not just your diet which can affect the health of your hair. Here is some top care routine advice to improve the quality of your hair.

  1. Wash your hair less.
The more you wash your hair, the greasier it becomes. This is due to your scalp overproducing its natural oils to compensate for their removal during washing. Those with oily hair may need to wash their hair every 2-3 days whilst dry hair should only need washing once a week or even less!
  2. Choose the right hair products.
Using the wrong shampoo and styling products can actually damage your hair. Keep an eye out for products designed for your hair type; for example, dry, oily, colored, etc.
  3. Use a comb.
It may be tempting to use a brush after washing your hair, especially if it is prone to becoming tangled. To prevent breakages in your hair, try using a wide-tooth comb instead!
  4. Don’t forget to condition and moisturize.
Whether you have high hair porosity, which needs regular moisturizing, or you simply want to add extra shine to your hair; consider using essential oils. A coconut oil mask once a month is a great way to keep your hair looking fabulous.
  5. Treat your hair with love: avoid the heat styling!
Whilst you may wish to curl those straight locks or straighten unruly curls, heat styling can do serious damage to your hair. Instead, try to mix up the styling with loose styles, braids and more.

With these top tips, we have now shown you everything you need to know about how to improve the quality of your hair. All you need to do now is put our tips into practice!
